Swatches: NYX Powder Blushes (Part 1) **UPDATED PICTURES** (Peach, Mocha, Pinched, Angel and Desert Rose)

You know the drill! I'll just swatch them all for references. (^_^)

As always, the textures and pigmentation are amazing for the price! (^_^)

*** I took down the old photos because after doing a bit of scanning of my past reviews, I found that the pictures here is one of the crappiest I've seen so far and is very inaccurate. Since this post is usually visited most by people who want a good reference of the blushes, I decided to re-take pictures of my blushes. I hope this time, my pictures will be more accurate and less crappy than before. I don't have a DSLR, sorry.***

Place bought:
Online at Digitaltraincase

How much:
P300 each

All Pictures are "clickable" to enlarge!!! Enjoy!!!

All pictures were shot in Natural Light:

PEACH

MOCHA
I had a hard time taking pictures of the exact color of Mocha in real life. The close up shot of Mocha is more accurate than the photo above.

PINCHED
(they said this is a dupe for Nars Orgasm...I can't tell if it's true 'cause I don't have a single Nars blush)

ANGEL

DESERT ROSE
(almost the same as Mocha, but this is "redder" and go towards berry color)

BNC Nail Polish in 319 CAN BE a cheap Dupe to...

I've had this for sometime now and this is one of my most worn nail polish of the moment!
I bought this last June (as stated on my past post) in Trinoma for only P80!!

Pro:
- quality of the formula is not bad! stayed on my nails w/o chipping for 5 days at most!
- color is true to the bottle
- 2 coater
- affordable
- dries quite fast, but not so fast that it would become streaky.

Cons:
- chemical smell is quite strong.
- not readily available
- packaging looks quite cheap

Exact or Close Dupes could be:
- Color Club = High Society
- China Glaze = Recycle (this is just a little darker, but still close)
- MAC = On the Prowl (in the Hello Kitty Collection?)
- Rimmel London = 805 Grey Matter
- American Apparel Nail Lacquer in Mouse

and many more..you get the idea...

Swatches:

If I Can't Do the Face, Then I'll Do the Nails Metallic Red...LOL!!!

I'm feeling like painting my nails with metallic red today...to make a part of my body look at least...cheerful? less boring?

I used this.

This (including 2 other nail polishes I haven't tried yet) was only given to my by a relative from Canada..I guess they know that I also like nail polishes? Whoever gave this to me...Thank you!

after I painted my nails, I wasn't quite satisfied yet, so I made it matte with this...
(FYI: I bought this china glaze online for P370...I know it's kinda expensive for a small bottle.)

and it turned out great! (at least, for me)

I almost forgot, I used this as a basecoat...a good chance to try this for the first time...not bad for a base coat...I'm hoping that it won't stain my nails yellow if I take this off after a few days...(^_^)

My Dermatologist Gave Me Some Reality Check Awhile Ago...

Went to the dermatologist awhile ago to end this crazy breakout I've been having because it's really breaking my self-esteem and self-confidence that I've worked so hard to build up by myself throughout the years...and I'm not gonna let just a simple acne-polluted face ruin all my hard work.

My derma (dermatologist) just gave me a reality check...and I'm quite sad and disappointed at the same time.

After her very long explanation about what's really happening about my skin condition, I've realized many things:

1.] I have an oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin (and I'm also prone to warts! F!)...and when I say acne-prone, the derma told me that I have a chronic, RECURRING case of acne which can be caused by hormones (I'm already on the pill) and hypersensitivity to wrong skin care products. This means that I'm have to deal with this crap for the rest of my miserable life.

2.] Treating my CURRENT skin condition is the easy part, MAINTAINING to have a clear face is the hard part. I asked my derma about her suggestion on skincare brands that I could use for my skin type and she suggested Clinique (freaking expensive to use for the rest of my life!!!) or Cetaphil (which I don't really like because I don't think it even worked on my skin)...

OR...she told me that the general rule in finding a moisturizer is that it should not be scented, oil-free, noncomedogenic, hypoallergenic and not colored.....so does this mean that I have to make a trial and error test on products that would suit my skin??? = This will surely make me a very poor, scar and zit-polluted faced old hag in the end.

3.] I've realized that I cannot just try and experiment with some random cosmetics (high-end or drugstore) out of curiosity, even if the packaging is great (I'm a sucker for cute and elegant packaging) or even if they say the product is high quality (e.g Chanel, YSL, Dior, Guerlain, etc.), hence reviews about cosmetics will be even more limited than it already is.

4.] I cannot test out skincare products whenever I feel like it even if the products are made for my oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin because it could worsen my skin condition, hence reviews on skincare products will also be very limited then it already is.

5.] I can't stay awake very late like I used to anymore..I have to sleep early even if I don't want to. Yes! I don't like sleeping early. I'm nocturnal, my brain works better at night onwards than in the morning. It also makes me feel very comfortable and at peace when I'm awake late at night because I get to be very productive with writing...this may sound funny to you, but staying awake late until 4 am in the morning saved me from making a crap full of nonsense in my term paper in high school and in my thesis in college. I don't know if this is even normal...at least I can work as a call center agent right?

6.] I have to save up more money than I used to just to find a product that will really work on my skin even if it would be a high-end brand...which makes me sad because I like bargains and cute, cheap stuff...I usually stray from high-end everything because I feel like I don't fit in that category...yes, I know I'm weird.

7.] One things for sure, Lipstick will always be my best friend. I could still wear makeup every now and then, but I won't risk suffering this full-blown, crazy breakout anymore. Even if it breaks my heart, I have to let go of many of my cosmetics (especially bb creams) in exchange for clearer skin. I don't think I would be wearing blush most of the time...which makes me want to cry because I recently bought cream and powder blushes.

8.] I will have to make my skincare regimen as simple as possible. As long as the products will work for me.

9.] My derma told me that I can only use moisturizer if needed on dry areas on my skin. So that means commercials that tell us, moisturizers are a must in every skincare are total crap, but SUNSCREEN on the other hand, is a must everyday!

Ok, I think that's my rant for now...I know this is a waste of time, but the level of frustration and depression I'm feeling right now is overwhelming that I can't even talk about it to my husband (I tried, but he did not understand which made me a bit pissed off...not gonna do any talk that will make his brain bleed anymore--'cause he can't handle alien scientific words.)

Pls. help...what cosmetics (noncmedogenic, hypoallergenic, great for sensitive, acne-prone, oily skin) and skin care could you suggest that would still work for my skin condition? I research each and every single one before I purchase anything.

Latest Collective Mini Loots as of now...

Just want to share my latest loots I've ordered online and in the mall. I'm happy and sad at the same time because I won't be able to haul and blog as much in the future because I'll be busy job hunting...yep! This fresh grad needs a job too.

Anyway, here's this month's loots.

A Hit and Misses with My Skinfood Haul in the Mall...Honey Glossy Rouge Lipsticks (UPDATED)

Just want to share swatches and brief reviews about the items I got from Skinfood in SM North because they were on a 50% discount sale last June.

They also had another sale last July...of course, I hauled again...hihihi! I guess I'll be making a separate swatch/review about the items that I bought last July.

UNFORTUNATELY! I lost both of the receipts from my June and July hauls. Yes, it's my fault and I'm sorry. I'm quite annoyed that this happened because for me, telling the current price of an item you're reviewing is important to inform future consumers who might be interested in purchasing the items we've reviewed.

If ever I find the reciept somewhere in the house, etc. I'll update this blog entry again.

I'VE FOUND THE RECEIPT!!! EUREKA!!

I got all Honey Glossy Rouge Lipstick on sale for 337.50 each from a ridiculous original price of P675.00 each.

I'm going to give a somewhat in depth review of my first Skinfood lipsticks in Honey Glossy Rouge Lipstick Range (yep, it's quite a mouthful to write)

Skinfood Honey Glossy Rouge Lipsticks
Luckily, I only bought 3 of these lipsticks to try first because the saleslady did not give me any kind of tester (because all of the lipsticks are sealed and can't be opened until you purchase it). Only one of these lipsticks is a HIT while the other 2 are MISSES.

In nautral light:

Overall, they are an OK lipstick, but not to the point that I would want to buy again...except maybe for their lipstick that have the CREAMY texture and finish. I am not a fan of glittery (fine or chunky) or metallic lipstick of any kind, but if it's your thing, maybe you'll still consider checking this lipstick range.

General Comment:
Pigmentation: Sheer (which is ok for me.)
Packaging: elegantly made tin material that doesn't look and feel cheap.
Texture: The lipstick range has a combination of glittery (fine glitters) to creamy textures, but again, all of them have sheer finishes. They glide on very easily, almost have a slippery feel to it. (which means they also disappear easily)
Scent: It doesn't smell anywhere near like honey, but this lipsticks still smells AMAZING.
Color Variety: has quite a wide range of color that maybe you might like, but majority of the colors are more towards PINK, which unfortunately, I hate. (sorry, for the pink lovers)

and
I really don't like the numbering system that they made to name the lipstick. I'ts a bit hard to remember a certain lipstick you like.

INDIVIDUAL REVIEW:

Honey Glossy Rouge in 683
I though I've already found the perfect orange lipstick for me, but this turns out to be a miss. From the tube it looks great, but it only gives little pigmentation with a whole lot of fine glitter which I hate so much!
As I said, it almost has that slippery feel to it upon application which means it rubs off very very easily leaving me with a horrible glittered lip (more glitters settles on my lip lines). The horror!!

In natural light:
looks great upon application, but there's a little bit gritty of a gritty feel to it. It also dried my lips a bit after a while.

w/ flash:
the color will not spread evenly and it will also look a bit patchy on chapped lips.

Honey Glossy Rouge in 385
This one is another of my random picks which is also a miss for me. This lipstick and the first lipstick I've ranted about (above) have the same problem for me...they're only difference is the color.

In natural light:
I've already layered this and it still looked like I only applied lipbalm with fine (and a bit gritty) glitters.

w/ flash:
This still looks like I only applied a tinted lipbalm on.

Honey Glossy Rouge in 363
This is the HIT. This lipstick has a creamy finish to it which I like. Actually, this was suggested to me by the SA in Skinfood and thankfully, I listened to her.
This is the good thing about the Skinfood sales assistant in the mall. They know their products very well!!!

Pigmentation of this is still sheer, but it's ok because I expected it already to be sheer even though it looks great in the tube. This lipstick is still more pigmented compared to the 2 above.
glides easily, but disappears easily too.
Smells AMAZING!
Best thing about this is that it doesn't have the gritty glitters.

In natural light:
In this picture, it looks like the lipstick has a bit of glitter in it, but no, it doesn't have any. The glitters were just the residue of the first 2 lipsticks that I've swatched on my lips before this one.

W/ flash:
Unfortunately, the lipstick will still sit on the lines of your lips and dry your lips a bit, but not as much as the first 2 I've already mentioned.

Review: Avon Naturals Rice Cleanser

Just going to make a short review about this cleanser that I have used way, way back even before I started using the Avon Rejuvenate line (which was a big fail to me)...

Avon Naturals Rice Cleanser
I'm always a sucker for any skincare product that has an ingredient with rice in it because rice is said to have brightening and smoothening effect on skin.

My original plan was that I really, really want to buy The Face Shop Migamsu Brightening Rice Cleanser because I've already tried the sample size of it and I love how it made my skin smooth and quite alive (because I have sallow skin)...I'm really going to buy that in the future...

On topic again!!!

When I saw this Avon Rice Cleanser in the brochure of my sister with it's introductory price of P99, I bought it right away...what have I got to lose right? but here's the outline of what I think about it.

Comment:
- very affordable P99...I think it's currently already sold at P120
- it cleans quite well.
- it's only a mediocre cleanser...nothing special about it.
- has a very similar smell as the Ponds facial cleanser which is surprising and annoying at the same time because I don't like Ponds.
- white, creamy consistency...very foamy...

Cons:
- quite drying on the skin, so you really have to put on moisturizer after.
- don't like the smell.

Would I purchase again?  No, sorry.

Here's what it looks like:

white, creamy consistency

Ingredients, Directions and Description of the product:

All in all, it's nothing special...That's it.

Swatches: Latest Batch of NYX Round Lipsticks (Pic Heavy)

Here's my latest NYX round lipsticks from my collective hauls.

The natural lighting on every the photo are not consistent because I took photos of the lipsticks at random times in a day whenever I have free time so these were not taken all at once...I have to do chores first ya know...

I'm also sorry if the other pictures are kind of blurry (some picture quality are not that good)..My hands are shaky most of the time...

All of the swatches are swiped opaque on the lips to show you the real pigmentation of each lipstick.

I'll let the pictures speak for itself...the colors shown in the pictures are quite accurate already.

On with the swatches:
