Review: TokiDoki Robbery Palette (Super Pic Heavy)

Before I start, I would like to let ya'll know that I'm sorry if the picture quality you will about to see is not something that is HD worthy, but I tried my best to take the best picture that I can using my point and shoot camera.

The lighting is also inconsistent on most pictures because I only used natural lighting this time. I also took a lot of pictures of the packaging of this palette because I really appreciate the effort and the design that was put into this product and of course, the good quality eyeshadows, blushes and bronzer that is in it.

This palette is not new in the market anymore and I don't know if they still have this in Sephora.

All pictures are "clickable" to enlarge.

There 3 mini travel size palettes that is inside this tin can packaging.
Royal Pride - which I consider as the neutral palette out of the 3.

Arlecchino - the "avant garde" palette which consists of bold colors that I don't usually use, but I'd like to try once in a while.

Rapina - the smokey eye palette

I appreciate the fact that they really gave so much effort in stating the ingredients of each eyeshadow, bronzer, and blushes...The designer is really keen to details...very OC...hihihihi!

Even the plastic container that enclose the tin can palette was also designed with kawaii characters.

give you A+++ for the design.

With the plastic casing removed, here is the actual tin can packaging.
Love!

On top of the tin can is a magnetic (I don't know how to call it) "trinket"? Part of the design?

I could put this on my refrigerator to post notes and what not.

The magnetic "something" is removed. Here's what it looks like.

even the sides of the tin can has a design to it.

 Opening the tin can casing...
Viola! explosion of characters without the overkill.

the mirror.

the 3 travel size palettes...

removing the palettes...

surprise! more design...I like how they place the characters...consistent with the concept.

Since I don't know who the heck they are, I'll just name them acc. to the palette that are place on them. If ever you know their names, feel free to comment below.
Royal Pride

Arlecchino

Rapina

Whew!!! Time for the swatches of the actual product. I didn't know, looking at every details of the packaging is quite tiring. hehe!

open it up and you'll see the eyeshadows and the bronzer and of course, the character on the top flap of the palette.

Love the names of the eyeshadows and bronzer

3 of the eyeshadows here (Lion Pappa, Savana, and Ercolino) are shimmery and the Bulletto is a satin finish.

The bronzer

Swatch:
only did 1 swipe for each eyeshadow. All are very pigmented and has a smooth, velvety texture/feel to it. Yep! love it!

swatched with no primer.

the bronzer has a satin finish to it. I don't know if many people would like to use this as a contour shade because it is not entirely matte.

I would describe this as a peachy, nude shade with golden undertones to it.

I think I could use this as a blush since it will fit well on my skintone. It is also not that pigmented which I actually like because it looks natural on me when blended out on my skin.

The Arlecchino Palette

forget the eyeshadows and blush and just look at the character on top. hahaha!

Honestly, out of the 3 palettes, the Arlecchino is my least favorite. These eyeshadows are a disappointment to me. They should be bold, vibrant colors, but when swatched, they look a bit dull to look at.

The blush, however, is my favorite out of the 3 palettes. This could be a dupe for NARS Orgasm, but this applies with a few to no glitters at all. I hate glitters because they look tacky to me.

Swatches:
(left-right: Soya, Candy cane, Ninja dog, Meteo)

As you can see, Soya and Meteo has a satin finish to it, Candy cane has a metallic finish. Ninja dog, however, is the most disappointing eyeshadows of them all. I love the color, the feel, and even the name itself, but the pigmentation...c'mon! even drugstore eyeshadows can do better than that! It so sheer and dull looking. I guess Ninja dog is a sheer finish?!?!

close up of Momobella. I really think that this could be a dupe for the NARS Orgasm. It may look very shimmery/glittery in the pan, but it doesn't transfer upon application which is great!

Swatch:

Momobella

It may not be as pigmented as the NARS Orgasm, but it is buidable and it looks natural when applied. I hate glitter.

The Rapina Palette

love the color combinations.

Liberty and LA Gun are shimmery, Bullets has a metallic finish and Adios is a matte.

While Momobella has gold shimmers to it, Polpettina has silver shimmers to it.

 Swatches:
pigmentation and texture are awesome.

I love LA Gun (gunmetal color)

close up of Polpettina

Swatch:
this may look like the shimmers will transfer to the skin.

surprisingly, it doesn't.

Another bonus is that the tin can can be used to store small things inside.
Remove the cute box case.

like so...Adios mi amigos!!!

and another storage space for little things. Fortunately, I won't remove and throw away the box since I don't want to ruin my collection.

Place bought and Price:
I bought it online when Lin Lin (getsophisticated) facebook page decided to do a sale a few months ago. The markdown prices were insane!!! If I remember I got this for approximately P1600.00 from the original price of approximately P2200. Great deal indeed!!!!! The freebies she gave me were amazing, btw... (^_^)v

General review of the product:
Pros:
- Pigmentation are inconsistent with each product, but all products have a smooth, velvety texture/feel to it when I swatched it on my skin.
- price (I got it on sale)
- packaging is amazing. You can that every detail was well thought out and is consistent with the concept. It is kawaii without being tacky looking. Maybe overloaded with designs, but it is not an overkill.
- packaging can be recycled and used for other stuff.

Cons:
- not yet readily available in the Philippines.
- regular price is expensive.
- again, pigmentation is not consistent. Ninja Dog, in particular, is a disappointment.

Review/Comparison: Wet N' Wild Coloricon Eyeliner in Deep Blue and Wet N' Wild Megachrome Eyeliner in Cobalt Blue

Wet N' Wild Coloricon Eyeliner in Deep Blue

Price:
P99.00

Place bought:
SM Dept. in Fairview (it is also available in other Sm dept. branches that carries Wet N' Wild products)

Natural light:

Product dupe:
When I was starting with makeup, I bought a Fashion 21 eyeliner pencil in blue (I gave it away to my sister since I'm using higher quality eyeliners already, so I can't show you the product, sorry.) The Fashion 21 eyeliner in Blue is the exact dupe of this.

They both have the same matte texture, same length and same "crayon" hardness ( I have to warm it a bit before I use it).

The difference they have is that the Fashion 21 eyeliner smudges a tad less and stay put on my eyelid longer than the WnW one, Fashion 21 eyeliner is cheaper (P89.00) and it comes with a smudger on one side of its pencil tip, but WnW eyeliner is a tad more pigmented than the Fashion 21 eyeliner.

W/ flash:

Pros:
- price is very affordable.
- good for those curious people who are just starting with makeup.
- this eyeliner pencil is longer than your regular eyeliner pencil in the market. I wish Urban Decay eyeliners are this long..wahahaha!
- smudges easily. Good for those people who want a smokey eye look.

Cons:
- smudges easily. If you are looking for an eyeliner that doesn't budge, this is not for you.
- lacking in pigmentation.
- quite hard to apply, but warming it up first before application can remedy this problem.

Swatch:
This eyeliner color is more of a matte navy blue that is quite lacking in pigmentation. One swipe is not enough to make it super opaque.

Wet N' Wild Megachrome Eyeliner in Cobalt Blue

Price:
P299.00 (I don't know why this is more expensive than the WnW Coloricon eyeliner since both has the same quality which is only so-so.)

Place bought:
SM Fairview (also available in other SM dept. branches)

Natural light:

W/ flash:

Pros:
- stays put longer than the coloricon eyeliner.
- i like the shade.
- P299.00 (still affordable)
- easier to apply.
- a bit more pigmented in one swipe.
- good for smokey eye looks.

Cons:
- P299.00 (not worth the price.)
- If I place both coloricon and megachrome side by side, the megachrome is drastically shorter than the coloricon. almost the same size as the sample size of Urban Decay eyeliners.

Swatch:
I actually like this color, unfortunately, the quality is also mediocre, but if I were to choose between the coloricon and this, I would choose this.

Comparison:

Color and Pigmentation:
The WnW coloricon in Deep blue and the Megachrome in Cobalt blue is just about the same color. The only difference is the texture of both eyeliners, with Coloricon as matte and Megachrome as metallic. In terms of pigmentation, the megachrome is more pigmented in one swipe than the coloricon and is easier to apply because it is a tad creamier in consistency.

"Smudgeability":
- As you can see in the picture, the Coloricon failed the test in flying colors...hahaha! I only swiped my fingers ONCE on both swatches.

My Honest Perspective on Beauty Products Nowadays

Yep! long time no post. I know that I have not been blogging or reviewing products as much as I used to anymore, even though I have lots of time to blog. It's just that, during my hiatus, I've successfully curbed my appetite from purchasing new beauty products. Don't get me wrong, I love beauty products especially makeup (anything related to color) and this love will never go away. In fact, I'm still up to date with what's new and what have improved with different kinds of makeup and skincare products from different brands all because of reading reviews, watching youtube and observing different beauty boutiques and dept. stores...Ah! the power of media.

But as my knowledge with anything related to beauty products grew, I've realized that I'm becoming more "tamed" in purchasing things that I will use. Most of the time, when newbies in the beauty world try new things, we tend to buy this and that simultaneously without thinking thoroughly if the products is even worth the money, if the product is dupe-able, if the product is just a hype.

We usually don't care about that when we were beginners. We just want to satisfy our hunger for cute, colorful, expensive looking, fine smelling products. For me, that's normal for every newbie to feel that way and I think by going through that stage, we learn more about what we want from the product, what we will most likely use for a long time, what product are of really good quality, a piece of crap or just mediocre.

Do I regret buying all those things? NO, I actually enjoyed the journey of gaining knowledge through my mistakes and because of that, it has been much easier for me to decide if the product I'm going to buy is worth the risk and money or not with just looking at it and listening to what my gut tells me.

Sometimes I can't help but grin at some makeup products that were launch as "the new color of the season" or "the new miracle product" because by looking at some products I've seen recently, they're almost the same, but with just a different, modern or cute packaging. I'm actually more impressed by the designer of the packaging rather than the product itself...it's also shocking that I've observed most of these "recycled products" are from high end brands, but with a different name. Example, a blue eyeshadow was named "A" then after a few season they will name it "B" or a brand will launch a new color or texture of lipstick, and the other brands will copy the same color and texture of lipstick, but with their own different packaging and different price range.

It has become redundant (like what I'm writing right now). A trend...and to us, who loves to review products (in a brutally honest way) it has become a bit of a bore.

Nowadays, I've only seen a very few brands that have really improved their products throughout the years. They've really stepped up a notch and we, the demanding consumers, appreciate it greatly. I hope more brands will continue to amaze us with the quality of their products because hyped products never go very far, but quality products do. (no brainer)

That's rather a bit of a disadvantage when you've already learned so much, it's hard for you to be impressed or be wowed by the "new product" of the season, but it is also an advantage because you know what you want and what is worth your money or not.

Will I still do reviews in the near future? yes, but not as much as I used to.

Etude House Look At My Lips Contest + Pre-Holiday Sale + Job Opening (Philippines only)

Waaah! After deliberately not blogging for a long time, I've set my procrastination aside for a while to blog about this contest that Etudehouse.ph is having right now.

Wait, I've deliberately stopped blogging? why?! because I tend to burn spend my money excessively on makeup than spending it on more important things. Do not worry, I will still do reviews, etc. since I haven't done any on products that I've purchased from the past.

Anyway, if ever you've been an avid reader of my blog, you'll notice that most of my blogposts are reviews and swatches of lipsticks, lipgloss, etc...Yes! Lip products, especially anything that has to do with "coloring up" my lips has a special place in my heart <3.

So when Etude House Philippines updated their official facebook page to inform us about this (refer to the picture below)

(all credits go to etudehousephilippines' official facebook page)

they really did hit a very soft spot in my heart. Why!? why do you have to tempt me like this!?
Yes! I have this Look At My Lips Lipsticks! In fact, I have 3 of them and I haven't opened them yet!
Since I don't do haul posts anymore, I haven't shown you the goodies I've bought from the past months including this. hehehe!

I'm really not a fan of joining any kind of contests since I'm not lucky with these kinds of things! I only get a bit disappointed...hahaha! But! this contest has me thinking if I would join or not...

hmm...maybe not. Since the prize for the winners is not that exciting for me to take the risk and I already told Mr. PandaEyes that I would remain anonymous AS MUCH AND AS LONG AS I CAN. Maybe next time...(^_^)v

Another good news...is this (pls. refer to the picture below)

(all credits to etudehousephilippines)

they are having a pre-holiday sale! Unfortunately, I've already visited my nearest Etude House store and they said that the products on sale are on selected items only...hmm...the poster info. is kinda misleading...oh well!

just click on this link for more details about the mechanics of the contest and about this pre-holiday sale that they're currently having.

OH! BEFORE I FORGET!

I've visited the Etude House store again recently just to check on new items and to remember the names of the kind salesladies I'm referring to on my last post about the Etude House Grand Sale. Unfortunately, I can't remember all of their names, so I'll update this blog entry again after I'm done remembering all of their names, but I commend them all and I still stand by my word that all the SA that work in (Etude House SM NorthEdsa The Block branch) deserve a raise or other benefits..hahaha!

I commend:
(will update this section soon!)

Am I hoping that the Etudehouse Team read this? yes and I think they also read my Etude House Grand Sale post. hahaha! I hope you don't mind me borrowing the photos above. It's just for blogging purposes.

EH philippines is also having a job opening for HR assistant. What does a HR assistant do anyway? Can somebody with no experience and has graduated a doctorate degree eligible to apply? I'm just wondering. hehehe!
