In Depth Review: Avon Glazewear Clear Lip Gloss and Intense Lip Gloss

Believe it or not, this lip gloss from Avon has been one of my consistent favorite and most "used" product in my collection. I don't know why I haven't blogged about this sooner, besides me being a bit forgetful and lazy.
I think it's also very usual for people who do reviews to forget to blog about things that they love to use almost everyday than the things that they don't usually use that much. Very ironic, I know.

I think, I bought these early last year when they were still introducing this as one of their new products in Avon lip products line. At that time, it was more or less P200. Now, their current price as of this January 2012 is P375 (regular price). I just don't know how much these are when they are on sale, but I would recommend purchasing these when they are on sale which happens quite often.

You can watch out for their latest sales in their online brochure in their website.

Avon Glazewear Clear Lip Gloss and Avon Glazewear Intrense Lip Gloss

Place bought:
Avon "office" branches

To tell you the truth, I signed up for a membership to be an "Avon Lady" in the past. Ya know, people who sell Avon products and such. Since I don't have a gift for sales because as I said before, I am a wimp, I signed up for their membership just to have greater discounts on their products which gives me bigger savings. So whenever there's a sale, sale price + my membership discount = cheaper price and bigger savings.

Unfortunately, since it was taking a very, very, very long time for them to process my membership ID, I decided not to renew my membership w/ them. I'm quite disappointed with how they manage the processing of membership, etc. I hope they improve it soon.

Current Price:
As of January 2012, it's P375 (regular price)
top to bottom: Clear, Honey, Crimson, Rich Rose, Cherry Liqueur

At that time I bought these, there are a total of 6 varieties of these lip glosses, but I only bought 5 of them except for the "Buttered Rum". Currently, I think "Honey" (2nd at the top) is already discontinued bec. I did not see it included in their online brochure.

Scent:
I can only describe the smell as a cross between caramel-y and vanilla-y candy smell. It smells pleasant and it is not overpowering.

Texture and Consistency:
When looking at it, it looks like it has a gel-like consistency. The texture of these are AMAZING. it is not sticky or runny and it last longer than a normal lip gloss. It feels very comfortable to wear bec. it does not dry my lips at all.

Avon Glazewear Clear Lip Gloss w/ SPF15
If you look at the picture closely, you could tell that this lip gloss has seen better days. The label is starting to fade. You could tell I use this very often.

I'm not kidding when I say that this clear lip gloss can stand on its own without using a lip balm underneath. This is like a hybrid of a lip balm and a lip gloss. You should try it to believe it.

Swatch:
I was really surprised with this bec. it really moisturizes my lips even when I'm not using a lip balm underneath. Its moisturizing ability last for quite long time too.

Pro:
- affordable
- versatile (can be used on top of a lipstick or on its own w/o appyling lip balm underneath)
- great moisturizing ability that lasts for quite a long time.
- has spf 15
- feels very comfortable to wear. It's not waxy.
- does not have an overpowering smell.

Cons:
- If you don't want to stain the doe foot applicator when using this lip gloss on top of a lipstick, you have to use a separate applicator on your lips. I realized this too late when I saw my stained doe foot applicator. (refer to the picture above)

Avon Glazewear Intense Lip Gloss

This line of lip glosses has the same moisturizing texture and consistency like the Glazewear Clear lip gloss. The only difference is that this is pigmented...really pigmented...hence, the name "INTENSE".

Comment:
I would describe these lip glosses as a bit of a lip balm, lip gloss and a liquid lipstick hybrid because it doesn't dry my lips, it has the shine of a lip gloss and the pigmentation of a liquid lipstick.

Pigmentation:
AMAZING. very pigmented. You only need to dab a few dots on your lips and spread it either with your finger or a lip brush and the color still stands out. I can still go crazy and apply it full on your lips with the doefoot applicator for a very opaque and glossy finish.
Depending on how "intense" you want it, you could apply sparingly for a natural, healthy looking lips or apply liberally for an opaque, glossy finish.

Lasting Power:
I would say 2-3 hours (w/o eating or drinking) which is amazing for a "lip gloss". If ever you're going to try these soon, note that when the pigmentation starts to wear off, it gives you a natural colored looking lips, like you've just applied a tinted lip balm on. As a result, still great looking lips!

Cherry Liqueur
a very beautiful berry red color

Swatch:

(When used sparingly)

(Full on application)

Honey
a peachy nude color

I don't know if they discontinued this, if they did, it is very unfortunate because this gives me one of the best nude looking lips w/o me looking like I'm sick. I think this would look great on morenas/tanned skin ladies too. I just think this lip gloss was very underrated.

pls. ignore the lint...hihihi!

Swatch:

(When applied sparingly)

(Full on application)

Rich Rose
soft rosy pink color

One of my favorite to use almost everyday besides Honey.
The label sticker underneath is already gone because I use this very often. (^_^)

Swatch:

(When applied sparingly)

 (Full on application)

Crimson
a dark wine color w/ very fine, gold sparkles

this is my least favorite to wear, not because it doesn't look good, but because it is hard for me to pull off this look whenever I wear this on lazy days. On lazy days, I only wear sun screen and lip gloss. That's all. BUT! It looks vampy when I have makeup on. Not for everyday lazy days, but I still love it.

look at the fine shimmers...pretty...
Do not worry, this lip gloss doesn't feel gritty at all. It's not even noticeable once you applied it on your lips. It just makes your lips look more "juicy".

Swatch:

(When applied sparingly)

(Full on application)

Pro:
- affordable
- lasts for quite a long time.
- a little goes a long way.
- moisturizing.
- very pigmented. You can adjust the pigmentation on how you apply the lip gloss on your lips.
- does not have an overpowering smell.

Cons:
- none!!!

Would I repurchase this when I run out?
- yes! if only I know someone who sells this.

NOTE**
The lighting, color of my skin and my lip swatches changes a bit because I use NATURAL LIGHTING as much as possible. I shot these pictures at a different time and date (I also have responsibilities outside cyberspace ya know, hahaha!), hence the difference when pictures are compared. I find that my camera tends to capture clearer and more accurate images when the sun is really bright in the middle of the day (the time when I'm usually busy).

Review/Swatch: Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Lipstick in Lava Love M05

I haven't purchased any lipsticks from Avon for quite a long time now and honestly, I miss their lipsticks because of its affordability and its great quality. I've already compared this new lipstick that I've bought from the past Avon lipstick of the same line that I already have...it seems like they've improved the formula of their lipstick even more. I'm impressed! Unfortunately, I don't know any direct seller of Avon besides my sister who already stopped selling for the time being so, I have no access from buying Avon lipsticks...

...until one night, I passed by the LRT station on my way home from work and saw a stall of Avon products on the corner of the station...I was pleasantly surprised that I get to try their lipsticks again...well, at least try their new formula because I really, really need to finished up at least half my lipstick collection before it go to waste. Even my husband is overwhelmed with my lipstick collection that he doubts I'm going to finish up some of it. He feels like I have almost a lifetime supply of lipsticks...yep, it's kinda embarrassing...

but I still bought one...hihihihi!

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Lipstick in Lava Love

I also like their somewhat new packaging of their lipstick. it has some good weight to it and it looks classy. They've only change the color of the metallic thing in the middle from light to medium grey. Well, I'm not good at describing things so, here is the sample of the packaging in the past.

I picked a red color with an orange tinge to it...why another red lipstick? I don't know...hahahaha!
Just by looking at the tube, I've realized that this can be a dupe for the NYX round lipstick in Eros minus the teeny weeny shimmer/metallic finish we see in NYX RL in Eros. Wanna see the comparison? here is my old post of my NYX reds.

Swatch:

Natural light:
yep, I forgot to take a picture of it with the flash mode, but c'mon! looking at a swatch in natural light is a better way to go. This kind of red really suits morenas and fair people with warm or neutral skintones.

Comment:
Pros:
- affordable. I bought it for only P199!!!
- available locally
- improved formula and packaging
- the smell reminds me of Nerds candy...I love Nerds!!
- great pigmentation. one swipe and it's already opaque.
- quite moisturizing, but I still suggest putting on lip balm before any kind of lipstick.

Cons:
- it's hard to find (for me) a direct seller.
- none so far.

Review: Avon Naturals Rice Cleanser

Just going to make a short review about this cleanser that I have used way, way back even before I started using the Avon Rejuvenate line (which was a big fail to me)...

Avon Naturals Rice Cleanser
I'm always a sucker for any skincare product that has an ingredient with rice in it because rice is said to have brightening and smoothening effect on skin.

My original plan was that I really, really want to buy The Face Shop Migamsu Brightening Rice Cleanser because I've already tried the sample size of it and I love how it made my skin smooth and quite alive (because I have sallow skin)...I'm really going to buy that in the future...

On topic again!!!

When I saw this Avon Rice Cleanser in the brochure of my sister with it's introductory price of P99, I bought it right away...what have I got to lose right? but here's the outline of what I think about it.

Comment:
- very affordable P99...I think it's currently already sold at P120
- it cleans quite well.
- it's only a mediocre cleanser...nothing special about it.
- has a very similar smell as the Ponds facial cleanser which is surprising and annoying at the same time because I don't like Ponds.
- white, creamy consistency...very foamy...

Cons:
- quite drying on the skin, so you really have to put on moisturizer after.
- don't like the smell.

Would I purchase again?  No, sorry.

Here's what it looks like:

white, creamy consistency

Ingredients, Directions and Description of the product:

All in all, it's nothing special...That's it.

April's full: of The Face Shop and Avon Haul

Yep! After holy week, I already made a mini haul for 3 reasons:

1) because this is my birth month.
2) because graduation is over and I need to buy me a graduation gift..hahaha!
3) because I'm depressed...You see, I've saved my money last march so that I could have my April shopping spree. Unfortunately, for SOME UNKNOWN REASON, I've lost quite a big sum of my savings and I'm very pissed because I did not spend on anything last March!!! shit!!! some of my savings is missing...

So yeah! on with the haul!

I checked out The Face Shop last Sunday to look for nail polishes that would go great with my graduation outfit and to add another batch of nail polishes on my collection of course!

love this batch!! Also got a bubblegum scented nail polish remover because I'm running out. All of them are still P95 each (^_^)

I also went to Avon and bought the Rejuvenate night cream which is fortunately, on sale for P699 (it really pays to wait for a sale!) to complete the rejuvenate skincare line that I will be using in the near future because I'm already running out of skincare products..Maybe, if I get the chance NOT to be lazy, I will review all the skincare products that I already used (pictures are still stored in my pc).

I also bought a small perfume called Angel Locsin (Philippine actress) Wish of Happiness perfume. I honestly did not like the smell. Fortunately, it was on sale for P149.

I'm very picky about perfumes especially the generic ones because they tend to make me nauseous.
I'm not a cheap perfume snob.
My nose and my brain just reacts badly to chemical smells. Usually, cheap perfume has a very overpowering, generic chemical smell that is very familiar (like everyone is using it) and doesn't sit well with my body chemistry when I've applied it. They either tend to smell super gaggingly sweet or super gaggingly " magazine- scented perfume for men".
Compared to not-so-very-affordable once or high end ones which clings to me like my second skin and it
doesn't smell overpowering, but it's still there all day. Do you know what I mean?

Anyway, I still have more gifts this April to hoard....bwahahaha! Damn! Why do I sound a bit bitchy today??

Collective Hauls

I've never noticed that I've purchased quite a lot (for me) than I normally do...It's not really me to buy something in a whim, but I really have a good reason why I bought these things.

First stop. Skincare!

I bought the Avon Anew Rejuvinate Day Cream and the Flash Facial. I've heard great reviews about this Anew line that I've decided it's about time I purchase some especially this month!

I took the chance to grab some because with every purchase (acc. to the brochure) of an Anew Rejuvinate product that is worth P699.00, I get a free eye cream! (^_^)

I got 2 eye creams because:
Avon Anew Day Cream = P699
Avon Anew Flash Facial (serum) = P899

Not bad! I'm planning to complete the line, but I'm currently kinda broke. hahahaha!

Second stop. BOOKS = love!!

On my past blogs about my frustration with my thesis, I promised myself that after my thesis defense, I will buy myself books written by RICK RIODAN and yes it's the Percy Jackson series. You may have noticed that I only got the chance to buy the book 1, 3, and 4...Book 2 was already out of stock and Book 5 is still a HARDBOUND. I only buy paperbacks (which cost me P289.00 each) because hardbounds are expensive (costs P600+).

I am very careful with my books so I don't really need the hardbound version. My other books that I've bought in high school still looks new, of course the paper aged with time, so that's normal.

I've been quite curious about the story since I've watched the movie and it left me quite unsatisfied because usually, the BOOK version has the complete version of the story compared to a remake done in the MOVIES.

One good example is the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. Good thing, I've read the book because the movie only remade small parts of the story which is not as good as the BOOK version. I've already read them all last, last year so maybe I'll try to give ratings to books that I've read. I'm not good with reviewing books. I'm more of a SPOILER..hahahaha!

Third stop. The Online Haul!

This package took a very, very, very long time to arrive because I purchased these nailpolishes from Missha from one of my favorite online seller, thelittlecoolshop, last January 2010, even before I've purchased my last nailpolish from Missha in SM northedsa and it only arrived March 8, 2010...This was the first time I got my package this long, but it's not the sellers fault so it's ok! (^_^)

Along with my purchase, she also gave me freebies (^_^). By the way, the nailpolishes was P150.00..I know it's a bit expensive by P30.00 compared to what I've purchased in SM north...but it's ok..Colors are limited in  that Missha branch anyway...(^_^)

Review/Swatches: Avon Ultra Moisture Sheer Lipsticks

Just a quick review on Avon Ultra Moisture Sheer Lipsticks that I bought on my last haul. I've already collected almost all of the sheer lipsticks so I think it's about time to collectively review and swatch 'em all.

My Sheer Lipstick Army
From left to right: sheer nectar, sheer mauve, sheer nude, sheer red, sheer spice, sheer plum

*You can tell that the sheer nectar is my favorite..it complements my skintone perfectly, great for everyday wear and matches almost everything!

Comment on all of them:

PRO:
- creamy and glides on smoothly
- has a nice faint smell
- buildable colors
- affordable (I bought this 'cause it was on sale for P235...this ultra moisture sheer lipsticks seldom go on sale ya know!)
- moisturizes my lips really well (I'm lazy applying a lip balm)
- staying power is quite good especially the sheer red, sheer plum and sheer spice.

CONS:
- the sheer red, sheer spice and sheer plum is not that SHEER when applied which could be a problem to those people who bought it for its sheer finish (not a problem w/ me though)...I know I've said SHEER to many times.
- none!

Before the swatches (my bare lips w/o lip balm on):
On with the swatches!

Natural light:

 sheer nectar

sheer mauve

 sheer nude

 sheer red

sheer spice

sheer plum
W/ flash:
sheer nectar

sheer nude
sheer mauve

sheer red

sheer spice

sheer plum
That's it for my current sheer collection (^_^)

Have a nice day!
